To Da Front – 9/4/13
It has been quite some time since the latest update, but there has also been a lot going on for the team.

Back on 8/25 at Hudson Speedway, we won our heat race in a near dominating fashion. With the only goal we had being to break in tires for Wednesday night, leading 7 laps and coming home with a 2nd place finish in the feature on Granite State Pro Stock night wasn’t something we had planned. It was a strong run for us and we look forward to returning on 9/15. As of 8/24, we were 10th in points.
Wednesday, 8/28 wasn’t so great for us. We missed something major on the car, which was found Thursday morning before going to Thompson that is most likely the cause of our misfortunes. First off I can’t thank my crew enough for unloading and preparing the car while I was in commute from school. We were fighting a looseness problem that was snapping the car left in the corners. After making some changes during a few early cautions, we managed to make it drivable, but still wicked loose. After picking our way thru the field twice, we ended up in 10th place, back to 3rd in points with 2 weeks remaining.
Thursday 8/29 we had shipped off to the Thompson Speedway for NEMST competition. A decent field of cars showed up for this dark gloomy afternoon, and in the heat we quickly found that we were not the slowest car there which had been refreshing to see with our little stock Saturn. Starting pole in the feature, and after a little bit of duct tape… or half of the roll… we managed to lead the first lap before being freight trained by the actual mini stocks. After what seemed like a marathon of a race, due to size of track and not amount of cautions, we crossed the line 9th.
Sunday night at Waterford in the Back to School Bash, we participated in the 50 lap 4cyl enduro. Unveiling the new “Pooduro,” a 1998 VW Jetta sponsored by Thirty Marketing, we drew 8th in the starting lineup. Involved in some contact in turn 1 that caused us to spin, that had set us back a little bit. But once the dust settled after the race had completed, we came in 2nd place.
And finally on 9/4 we went into the green to checker race blind without practice. On a setup that has been tight since our second win, the car handled anything but. Better than the week previous, but it was very loose. After struggling to keep a smooth line, we crossed the finish in 11th.
Up next: We take it easy this week with the Wacky Wednesday season finale on 9/11
