To Da Front – 6/20/13
On-Board Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FQpb4cSqkok
After the intense wreck we were involved in last week, we weren’t sure how the car was going to react. With a lot of help from the Garside family, from hiding out while it was raining to piecing the beast back together, we got the car functional for Sunday’s race.
During practice the car didn’t feel as good as it used to be, running .2-.3 seconds off normal pace, but it was smooth and rolling. After both rounds we knew something had to be done, so we stopped by the welders truck (it’s a great investment) and made some major adjustments.
Starting 5th in the feature, there was an opening through the middle entering turn 1 on the start. Taking advantage of this opening, we quickly found our way into 2nd place. The car wanted to enter high and exit low, so when it came to passing the 5 car, it was a real challenge. We worked that outside groove for just about half of the race trying to make it by, and after some clean, close, intense racing, we finally got the advantage and pulled ahead. From then on out, it was all the little brown Saturn that could in the caution free race.
Huge thanks as always to my sponsors, this one was for you guys and gals!
