2013 WENT FLYIN’ BYE

THE RACING SEASON JUST FLEW BYE US AGAIN THIS YEAR AT THE SPEEDBOWL WITH ONLY THE OCTOBER-FEST FAMILY FUN RACES ON OCTOBER 26TH LEFT FOR 2013.A GOOD YEAR FOR SOME AND NOT FOR OTHERS AS USUAL AT THE 3/8TH MILE PAVED OVAL WITH GOOD CLOSE RACING IN ALL DIVISIONS.T.C.NOT GETTING A WIN THIS YEAR SURPRISED ME BUT HE DID GET CLOSE WITH SOME TOP THREE RUNS LATE IN THE SEASON AND THE FIREBALL PUTTING THE # 98 IN VICTORY LANE ALONG WITH JOEY GADA IN THE # 6 WAS GOOD TO SEE.NICHOLE AND VICTORIA GETTING WINS IN THE SK AND SK LITES ON THE SAME NIGHT WAS A GREAT NIGHT TO WITNESS AND ONE OF THE BEST NIGHTS TO BE A RACE FAN WAS WHEN THE RACING COMMUNITY GOT TOGETHER AND HELPED OUT STEVE BARRETT GET BACK ON HIS FEET AFTER HIS SERVICE TO OUR COUNTRY TO GO RACING IN THE # 14 STREET STOCK AGAIN.OTHER THAN MAYBE LOUDON THE MODIFIED TOUR RACE WAS ONE OF THE BEST ALL YEAR WITH PREECE AND COBY FIGHTING FOR THE WIN AT THE STRIPE.STREET STOCK RACING WAS AT AN ALL TIME HIGH WITH A GROWING FIELD OF CARS AS THE SEASON WENT ON.COREY HUTCHINGS WAS TOUGH TO BEAT BUT GUYS LIKE THE LIVE WIRE CHRIS MEYER AND THE COMEBACK KID JOSH GALVIN MADE IT TOUGH FOR THE 36 TEAM ALL YEAR AND THAT KID FROM THOMPSON RYAN WATERMAN RAN GOOD THIS YEAR PLUS PHIL EVANS, JOE ARENA,ALL STONE,DWAYNE DORR AND NORM ROOT LOOKED WERE ALWAYS TOUGH .2014 IN THE STREET STOCKS COULD BE WILD WITH SOME NEW DRIVERS ADDED TO AN ALREADY TALLENTED CREW.THE MINI STOCKS HAD SOME GOOD STUFF FOR THE FANS AS WELL, ALTHOUGH CAR COUNTS WERE DOWN, RACING WAS STILL CLOSE MOST EVERY WEEK.GARRETT DENTON AND IAN BREW MADE KEN CASSIDY JR. EARN THE TRACK CHAMPIONSHIP FOR THE # 11 TEAM AND THE FORMER NATIONAL CHAMP DID A FINE JOB TO PULL IT OFF IN STYLE.RC3 HAD SOME GOOD RUNS IN THE 93 AND BILL LEONARD WAS FAST ALL YEAR IN THE # 28 CAR.I LIKED IT AT THE END OF THE SEASON WHEN SOME TOUR TYPE MINIS WENT UP AGAINST THE REGULARS,TO ME IT MAKES SENSE TO GET SOME DIFFERENT BODY STYLES INVOLVED WITH THE MUSTANG BODY GETTING OLDER TO REPLACE.THE STANGS ARE STILL QUICK EVEN ON THE NEMST TOUR SO IF THE RULES ARE RIGHT THEY CAN RUN TOGETHER IT SEEMS TO INCREASE THE CAR COUNTS IN THE FUTURE.JUST MY THOUGHT BUT FOLKS RELATE TO CARS THEY SEE ON THE ROADS AND YOU DON’T SEE TOO MANY 80’S STYLE MUSTANGS OUT THERE.AGAIN IT WAS KID ROCK WINNING THE SK TITLE AND HE IS JUST AWESOME TO WATCH.ALWAYS CHARGING TO THE FRONT AND ABLE TO DO HIS STUFF IN HIGH OR LOW LANES AROUND THE SPEEDBOWL.TALK ABOUT TALENT ROCCO IS A TRUE HARD CHARGER FROM START TO FINISH.KYLE JAMES,TYLER CHADWICK,DIEGO MONAHAN,JOEY GADA,TOM ABLE JR. AND HOT ROD TODD WERE ALL FAST THIS YEAR.JEFF GALLUP AND CRAIG LUTZ WERE IMPROVING EVERY WEEK AND NICHOLE WAS FAST IN THE # 56.LM ACTION WAS ALL KID ROCK AS NOBODY COULD TOUCH THE FEARN # 1 CAR ON MOST NIGHTS.DILLON MOLTZ WAS CLOSE AT TIMES BUT LEFT US UPSET ABOUT A CALL MID-SEASON AND MAINE DRIVER DAVE FARINGTON JR. IN THAT COOL LOOKING # 23 WAS FAST BUT ROCCO WAS THE MAN IN 2013.JEFF SMITH,JASON PALMER, RAY CHRISTIAN,GLEN BOSS AND EVEN “THE DIESEL” VIN ESPOSITO RAN WELL.SK LITE ACTION WAS GOOD WITH BETTER RACING AS THE DRIVERS GOT MORE IN TUNE WITH THE TRACK IN 2013.SOME HARD WRECKS BUT GOOD HOMETRACK ACTION MADE THIS THE NEWEST WEEKLY DIVISION AT THE SPEEDBOWL A POPULAR CLASS FOR THE FANS TO ENJOY.RANDY CHURCHILL JR.WAS THE CHAMP BUT ALONG THE WAY CAME THE GOOD THE BAD AND THE UGLY AT TIMES FOR THE 05 TEAM WITH SOME WINS AND SOME HARD WRECKS.GLEN GRISWOLD WAS FAST AND WON A FEW AS WAS COREY BARRY AND VIC “THE QUICK”IN THE # 74 MACHINE.ALSO THE # 37 DRIVEN BY PAUL FRENCH WAS UP FRONT ON A REGULAR BASIS.THE LEGENDS WERE FAST AND RACED TWO AND THREE WIDE LAP AFTER LAP ALL YEAR WITH DYLAN IZZO IN THE # 04 TAKING HOME THE HARD EARNED TITLE.MY HOPE IS THAT 2014 IS EVEN BETTER THAN 2013 FOR THE SPEEDBOWL.MORE FANS ON SATURDAY NIGHTS WOULD BE NICE AS I STILL THINK WE OFFER SOME OF THE BEST SHORT TRACK RACING IN THE NORTHEAST,I WOULD BELIEVE THE ECONOMY PLAYED A ROLE IN CROWD SIZES NATIONWIDE.CAR COUNTS WERE STEADY IN MOST DIVISIONS AND ON WED.NIGHTS THE X CARS WERE AT 30 STRONG SOME SHOWS.I GUESS WE DON’T NEED THREE HEATS,TWO CONSIS AND A B-MAIN EVERY WEEK TO HAVE A GOOD NIGHT AT THE TRACK,JUST GOOD CLOSE ACTION IS WHAT IT TAKES.OVERDRIVE GOES ON THE ROAD SATURDAY LIVE FROM THE THOMPSON SPEEDWAY MOTORSPORTS PARK AND THE WORLD SERIES OF ASPHALT RACING.I WILL NEVER FORGET MY DAD LIFTING ME UP ON HIS SHOULDERS TO WATCH RICHARD PETTY,DAVID PEARSON AND PETE HAMILTON RACE DOWN THE LONG FRONSTRETCH AT THOMPSON WITH MOST EVERY SEAT IN THE HOUSE TAKEN.THE CROWD,THE SMELL OF GOOD FOOD AND OF COURSE FAST CARS, I WAS HOOKED AS A KID AND HAVE BEEN EVER SINCE ON STOCK CAR RACING.WE WILL SEE YOU AT THE SPEEDBOWL OCTOBER 26TH FOR THE BEST FAMILY FUN SHOW OF THE YEAR…POST TIME IS 3 P.M.
